This program is designed to help families who need financial assistance to register their child in Community Centre programs. Please contact your community centre for details. Community Centres review and approve the applications. Applications received directly from parents or guardians will not be accepted. Community Centres, please contact our office if you need further information or assistance. All funding is sent to the Community Centre, it is not forwarded to families or other sport organizations.
Is an option available only to players under 17 in Hockey Winnipeg. The program funding may include, but would not be limited to, the following incurred expenses: Area Association program participation, administrative and volunteer fees; league and exhibition game travel expenses; additional ice fees, including try-out ice; tournament fees; monies collected for team pictures and wind-up parties; medals and awards; and personal clothing items which become the property of the applicable player. The Grindstone Award Foundation provides grant assistance for FEMALE players to assist with registration fees (up to $500) as well as an equipment grant for 1 of 25 full sets of equipment donated by the NHLPA Goals and Dreams Fund. To be eligible for the registration and equipment grants, families must first meet specific financial criteria as per Revenue Canada’s LICO chart. Annual application deadline is July 31st each calendar year.
KidSport provides grants to kids from families facing financial barriers so they can participate in registered sport programs and experience the lifelong benefits of a season of sport. KidSport Manitoba provides grants of up to $500 per eligible kid, per year (January 1st - December 31st) towards sport registration fees. Clubs eligible for Kidsport funding must be active members of their Provincial Sport Organizations (PSO). If you are not sure if the club you want to apply for is a member of their respective PSO, we recommend contacting them to find out. You can find a list of all the Provincial Sport Organizations on the Sport Manitoba website here. Grants are intended to be used for sport registration fees; travel, competitions, uniforms and camps are not eligible for funding. Please note that KidSport Manitoba does not distribute equipment within our program, nor does the program accept equipment donations.

Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities is a national charity dedicated to providing kids from low-income families with the opportunity to experience the benefits of organized sports and physical activities. With an extensive, national network of more than 330 local chapters, Jumpstart helps kids in communities across Canada by assisting with the costs associated with registration, equipment and/or transportation.
